Busting stereotypes

I've never been to India - but I always felt the 'Dehli belly' thing was untrue - it's just people need to let their bodies adjust to foods they aren't used to!
I also remember being in Barcelona and being told not to drink tap water there - not cos it was bad - but because my body wasn't used to the water there - always wise to be cautious wherever you go..
Merry Christmas, Linda-Joy, though I see it is Boxing Day there already. Good to know about Barcelona though—I didn’t know about that.
It's nice to know that people outside India have such a nice opinion about our country. I'm glad that you're enjoying your stay here. Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Happysoul! In Indore now, another amazing city! I have always been a big fan of India—when our server gets fixed (long story) you might be able to find some of my posts over the years at my work blog—so it was great to see some of my positive thoughts about the country confirmed. You live in an amazing country!
PS.: someone needs to contact Vox to get ‘This is good’ in Hindi.
I agree with you and that was the first thing I looked for in the dropdown menu.

Jack, Have you seen the videos of Hans Rosling's presentations at TED. Your post reminded me of them. Worth a look when you get home!

From the bio

"..his current work focuses on dispelling common myths about the so-called developing world, which (he points out) is no longer worlds away from the west. In fact, most of the third world is on the same trajectory toward health and prosperity, and many countries are moving twice as fast as the west did."

Still going through tech problems: server fell over twice during my absence despite working all year; now I have returned to no email (last time I looked, there were 220 in my personal account for the day, which means there are probably 700-plus now). So I won’t watch Hans yet but he is totally right. The pace of change is incredible. I will post a few pics of Gaugaun, a city in the state south of New Delhi, soon. It will blow your socks off.
